Hoops 1(Metallics)
Hoops 1(Metallics)
acrylic paint, colored pencil, paint-marker, mirror tape on Dura-Lar
2007

In addition to recording what I witnessed on the bus through the lens of Red, Yellow, Orange, Green, Blue and Brown, I treated “Metallics” as a color-category. Expecting to find gold and silver in the form of belt buckles and purses, I quickly uncovered a major common denominator in the recurring shape of hoop earrings. Nine out of ten women wore hoops and I watched as each one ascended the steps to pay her fare, eagerly waiting to see where each woman would choose to sit so I could plot the similar, but uniquely designed hoops.
