Interested in the shifting landscape of my surroundings, I began to document the daily transition of buildings by means of photographs and sketches at different stages of the demolition process. Curious about the history of each building, I discovered that what I knew as a St. Vincent de Paul thrift store during my college years was once Sears, and one of the first department stores that opened in Detroit. While the lot remained vacant for several years post demolition, it is now home to a strip mall in what is now Highland Park.
