CURRENTLY IN PROGRESS: Stacks
This is a pile of my winter work clothes. These garments, unlike the other clothing in the series, are regularly in use as we only heat our studio to 50° in the winter months.
The texture established by priming over an old painting directed me to capitalize on the surface of the support. It reminded me of the caked up fibers of my wool sweaters from wiping paint off my brushes while working.
It was an interesting endeavor to simultaneously try to depict volume of form (manipulating color and value to create illusion of dimension) but also render the paint blobs that are wiped onto the surface of all of my work clothes.
Piles. Stacks.
Piles of stacks.
Stacks piling up.
Saving. Storing. Keeping.
I'm curious about other people's piles.
